Formed in the Spring of 2019, Gerald Gruenig & Gentilly Zydeco focuses on traditional South Louisiana Zydeco music. The band is led by KLFY News 10’s Gerald Gruenig. Gerald was born and raised on top of his fathers restaurant in the Gentilly Neighborhood of New Orleans. Since picking up the accordion, Gerald styles his play after his Zydeco Music mentors. Those Mentors include Lee Allen Zeno, Horace Trahan, Geno Delafose, & Keith Frank. Gentilly Zydeco is a 5 piece Zydeco Band that features a Grammy Award winning rhythm section with Lee Allen Zeno on Bass, and Kevin Menard on Drums. Both Lee Allen Zeno and Kevin Menard have traveled the world playing with the late great Buckwheat Zydeco. The bands rubboard player, Thad “Dr. Chad” Duplechin, has shared the stage with many Zydeco greats including Sampy and Boozoo Chavis. Gentilly Zydeco features a variety of guitar players, including Bob Brahan, Zydeco guitar great Kent August, and Chad Fouquier.
