Amis du Teche

FREE SHOW: Adeline Miller, Amelia Powell and Robert Miller make up this young, lively Cajun Band. The band’s name was derived simply because they all grew up along Bayou Teche in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, where they were influenced by the traditional Cajun sounds and French language of long ago. The band wants to be true to the heritage by speaking French and singing only French lyrics of traditional Cajun tunes. Adeline is on fiddle and Amelia plays guitar, while singing and conversing in French, and Robert brings rhythm with his upright bass. Adeline and Robert have performed together as far as Maine and Nova Scotia. Amelia has traveled internationally with her Father playing music for years. Adeline also performs with the Cajun and Bluegrass music ensembles here at the University of LA in Lafayette. Amis du Teche has recently recorded the music for the Louisiana Public Broadcasting documentary titled, "In the Blind." They also perform for events on behalf of the Louisiana Tourism Commission. At the 2019 Festival Acadian, Amelia and Adeline, were featured during the opening performance of female Cajun musicians with Bonsoir Cantin (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnGzxCLCv80); and they were recently featured on KLFY’s Acadiana music spotlight (https://www.klfy.com/.../acadiana-local-music-spotlight.../).
